Hayl absolutely hate doctors and personally think that a shower will fix any wound of his. 
This whole thing has a lot to do with the psysical contact that would happen if he actually went to a real doctor and since having other people touching him isn’t really something that he is okay with. This guy’s personal space is ridiculously huge. One, maybe two people have ever managed to get close to him. This have resulted in him turning into some sort of victim of adult-bullying and harrasment at the academy he’s working and living at which have only made him even more antisocial. He’s too stubborn to care about the lack of friends and friendly faces, but deep inside probably feels a tiny bit lonely. Hayl is that kind of guy that accepts that no one likes him, and have learnt to live with it, even though he’s feels like a hypocrite during those nights where he really wishes he had someone to talk to.
